About Detail

About Detail

I've always noticed the small things.

A custom OG image crafted for a single blog post instead of a procedurally generated one. The weight of a click on a well-made button. An error message that actually tells you what went wrong.

These aren't accidents. They're decisions—careful, intentional decisions made by people who care deeply about craft.

What This Is

Detail is a collection of these moments. A place to learn why great software feels great, not just what it looks like.

Each entry includes Editor's Notes explaining the thinking behind the detail and how to create it.

Why This Matters Now

AI can generate a functional interface in seconds. The barrier to creating something that works has never been lower.

But there's a difference between something that works and something that feels right. That difference lives entirely in the details.

Did you see the difference?

AI can't feel when a button's resistance is just right. Humans can.

In a world of scarcity, we treasure tools.

In a world of abundance, we treasure taste.

— Anu Atluru, Taste is Eating Silicon Valley

As more of the world becomes automated, the people who understand these details will be the ones building products people actually love. Detail is my attempt to help you become one of them.

On Curation

Not every detail makes it here. What matters isn't fame—it's craft.

If removing a detail breaks the entire product, it's not a detail. It's a necessity. Details are the considerations you don't have to make, but choose to because they make things better.
